FM90 Blog – Brevet Show

It’s a Monday morning and I’m feeling grateful (a rare and unnatural occurrence for a Monday). I spent the weekend with The Brevet, who blew the roof off the GoldenLight Cantina on Saturday night.

The band, who hails from California, played for the first time in Amarillo to a full capacity crowd. Playing songs from their entire catalog, but focusing on songs from their latest album, ‘LEGS’. The crowd was prompted by lead singer Aric Chase Damm to clap and sing along. It was a tall order for a band that didn’t have an opening act, but after the first song, no one seemed to remember they walked out on a cold stage.

FM90’s Brown – King Crimson Review

In August 1969 the band, ‘King Crimson’ produced the album In the Court of the Crimson King and released it on October of that same year through the Atlantic Record Label and Island Record label. Despite the album being only 5 songs long that totaled a whole 43 minutes, it was one of the most influential albums to release (and arguably still is 60 some years later.) The 5 songs were titled 1: ’21st Century Schizoid Man’ 2: ‘I Talk to the Wind’ 3: ‘Epitaph’ 4: ‘Moonchild’ and lastly the title track, 5: ‘The Court of the Crimson King’.

Dreaming in Sounds by Jake Day

At night when I lay in bed and try to keep my mind from racing. I think of music. Lights and colors flow across the inside of my eyelids. It’s only when I start to think about the world as it is today that I begin to lose track of the sound and fury of my mind’s orchestra.

During every hard time in my life I have had music. It is something no one can take away. I’ve found myself sitting, technically in silence, for hours before I’ve realized how long I’ve been making music in my head to pass the time. I like to think that I am no different from anyone else. So if I do something so often that it becomes normal for me. I seem to think that other people are doing the same thing. Even though that is not usually the case.
